Story behind The Wilis Barn I:
The Willis barn was originally part of an old home place in Montrose Georgia. Complete with rafters that creaked when the wind blew, it had an old soul from the very beginning. After raising pigs in broom-swept yards for eighteen years, the Willis family came out of sharecropping in 1949 and put a down payment on partially cleared land that flanked the old red barn. Using the barn as a visible anchor, my grandmother, Miss Cora, built herself a tiny bungalow. Complete with a fancy parterre garden, it was the first dirt she ever owned.
